Lesley

Hello, so glad you stopped by, nice to meet you.

Home is the small village of Teversham, near Cambridge, England with my husband and dearest friend, Michael. We married in 1970 and have two grown sons. I say home but it is gradually becoming one entire studio (so is my brother's house in Dubai) as my drive to produce multiple pieces involving sequences of perhaps 3-9 canvi (that's Andy's word) is now running riot in my imagination so the house is full of work in progress as 10 – 15 canvi are worked simultaneously.

Having studied at Cambridge Polytech in affiliation with the Cambridge Art school,
I rejected a place at Goldsmiths, London, opting for art teacher training in Yorkshire,
back then in the late 60's, being an artist was not a 'real' job and had an 'uncertain' future.

After marriage and children, painting was put on a backburner, but as the boys grew I began producing small watercolours, taking on commissions and selling locally...and becoming very, horribly, bored. The clients were delighted...but I was flat. Laying down my brushes I didn't paint for 15 years.

In 1999, while preparing a small, millennium exhibition at chapel, a new Me emerged, I stood back and watched as a series of Christian artworks were born, in a totally new way. It was the style, colour, size, approach, media and atmosphere that changed. I had begun .... and with Michaels help we took the exhibition into the bigger churches in Cambridge until.....

In 2004.....Successful surgery for breast cancer, reunited me with, yes....the little watercolours. Strangely, this season and the awfully faded picture in my hospital room, was a catalyst, accelerating my desire and passion to “birth”paintings only seen behind my eyelids and on scraps of paper. Musicians hear colours and more in music, artist's 'see' lines, shapes, colours and atmospheres unseen by others. A friend reminded me, “ It doesn't always have to be about Christian paintings. Share what you see with others.” So begins a new journey and thanks to Michael, Mal and Karen, my “Bravehearts” and Karen's Divine appointment with William Braemer of Artfusion, who knows what the future holds. My heart screams “BRING IT ON!” but in a very British sort of way.

Sorry, there is no shining ethos regarding the paintings produced, I just 'scratch the itch,'nor will you find a signature way of painting, there is too much to get out and too little time......speaking of time I must let you go now, byeee Lesley
