Maxi Rose

Some years ago, as an art major, I fell in love with painting on silk; the way the lustrous, delicate fabric absorbed the rich dyes excited me. The only problem was that it was very delicate; therefore its effect was not permanent.

After much experimentation I developed a technique of encasing the silk in glass. In trying to find a solution, I came upon a plus-translucence- the silk became translucent. I now had the beauty of the color-drenched silk and the transparent quality of stained glass, but with a much lighter, airier feeling.

I call my results 'CONTEMPORARY STAINED GLASS'
