Haselbarth

About the Artist

Gisele Haselbarth, a native of Austria, has lived and worked as an artist, during 30 years, in New York City, San Francisco Bay Area and now in South Florida.

In New York, she studied painting and drawing with noted artists at the Art Student League in New York City, the Pratt Institute and the Asia House. Her work has received many awards including the Edgar Whitney Scholarship (1973).

In the Bay Area, she continued her studies in Printmaking with Master Printers Josef Zirker, Sue Emsley, and Sal Pecoraro. Later she conducted Collagraph Monotype Printing classes in her own studio in Sunnyvale.

In South Florida, she also maintained a studio in Ft. Lauderdale, which is, since May 2002, her full time workspace.

During her artistic career, a very personal, contemporary style of painting has evolved which reflects Life experiences and travels in Europe, the U.S., Mexico, Russia and the Middle East.

Her technique combines acrylic, oil, pastel and positive/negative collage techniques. Artworks are usually produced in series, a few paintings or more created over a year’s time, as in the sailboat shape series.

Gisele’s artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally for more than 30 years.

Gisele’s Statement:
“My paintings are much closer to music than to words! My art, at its best is a continuous process of self-discovery. Exploring new facets and possibilities are the result of my personal aesthetic of looking, questioning, and deliberation.
My new media is abstract digital photography. It feels very natural to me and gives me instant gratification. The latest series “Dancing Nudes” is a presentation of photographs done “in camera” and are not computer generated, all created by a photographic process.”
