Andrew J. Fitt

My name is Andrew Fitt. I was born on the island of St. Lucia in 1973. My birth had complications, the result being Cerebral Palsy, which means that any fine motor skill is challenging. The meaning of life is creation, however this takes place is entirely up to the artist. From as far back I can remember I was always trying to draw and paint, to come up with a way to express myself, to literally leave my mark, wanting it to remain long after I move on.

I admire a wide range of artists, both famous and unknown, looking, and thus how a finished work is created, from the spark of a concept to the very last creative touch. I taught myself how to use a computer to create art. I refined my skill and built up a portfolio over a number of years, eventually applying to International Fine Arts College in Miami, where I was accepted.

While at the IFAC pursuing a 3D animation, a graphic program came to my attention that allows the user to create in any type of media they wish. The software is called appropriately enough, Corel Painter. Over the years I have grown with Corel Painter. It is beyond diverse, it is infinite, it has allowed me grow as an artist, letting me develop my skill over the years and giving me a direction and place in life, allowing me to in fact leave my mark in the way I choose.

My art is influenced by my senses, and my experiences. I simply do the work I do for the joy of art itself. I am also an avid audiophile, music does influence me and the work that I create. I believe that music is strongly linked to my art and it provides me with what I need to be an artist. I have been exhibiting in Trinidad since 2001, with five one man shows, plus a group show.

Thank you.

Andrew J Fitt.
