Candy

Artist and Artisan

Born in 1950 at St. Francis Hospital on Miami Beach, Candy lived her entire life in Miami. Her interest in things artistic was, perhaps, fostered by her family's interest in fashion (the Lillie Rubin stores). As a fashion model in her teens, the application of make-up was creative expression for Candy.

After formally studying many venues, Candy expressed her creativity through crocheting, knitting, loom weaving, jewelry sculpting, and classic sketching. She studied volumes on these subjects and on many different artists before finding her own style of art: painting abstract designs in mixed media on paper and canvas.

In her mid-years, her lifelong devotion to make-up began to transform her artistic expression from just abstract designs to translating her experience with make-up to paper and canvas: "These faces are filled with character and personality, sometimes with humor, in the hope that the viewer will enjoy the outward expression of inner feelings."

Candy passed away in May, 2005, leaving the world a more beautiful place.
